Bulten acquires licence for MAThread
2009-11-25 Press release
MAThread is a patented threaded fastener used widely throughout the automotive industry in North America for improving assembly quality and efficiency. In order to further increase service for our customers, Bulten has acquired a licence for MAThread.
MAThread is a highly effective construction which helps prevent fastener failure due to cross-threading while significantly improving ergonomics for fitters. Thanks to its unique properties, it is now standard among auto giants such as General Motors, Chrysler and Mercedes Benz. Volvo Car recently also decided to make MAThread a standard product, the aim being to completely eliminate manual insertion of screws at its assembly plants.
By acquiring the licence Bulten aims to increase its market share in the European automotive industry, and to raise the proportion of fasteners that generate added value for our customers. The technology transfer has already taken place, and Bulten’s production units in Bielsko-Biala, Bergkamen and Hallstahammar can start producing fasteners with the MAThread construction immediately.
